the best place for your next camping trip
Looking for a fun (and cheap) weekend getaway? Located in Northern Minnesota is the Paul Bunyan State Forest. There’s plenty of space and camping is free but it’s first come first serve so you’ll want to make sure you get there early if it’s a popular weekend (like Memorial or Labor Day). Don’t have a camper? No problem, bring a tent! When you get there you’ll have plenty of options for things to do from walking trails, biking trails, ATV trails, or just relaxing in the woods and enjoying nature.
We always go ATVing and if that’s something you enjoy, make sure you make a stop at Stomping Grounds for something to eat and a drink! You can take ATV trails all the way there. They have the best staff and it’s always a fun time there. They also have a campground if you’re looking for something that has power and water.
For some fun touristy stuff, you can also check out the statue of Paul Bunyan in Akeley and a Tiger Muskie statue in Nevis.
We visit almost every year and it’s always a fun time! Traveling doesn’t always have to be fancy hotels or cool AirBnbs far away. Sometimes all you need is a hidden gem close to home.
