actually, you do have time

How many times have you told yourself “I don’t have time for…” because of work, family, kids, etc? I have [what may be] a hard truth for you — we all have the same exact 24 hours in a day, we just prioritize it differently. You actually do have time for the things you want to have time for.

Some of us binge-watch Netflix and some of us read books. Some of us choose to get up earlier in the morning to workout and some of us choose to sleep in. Some of us mindlessly scroll social media and some of us start businesses. There isn’t a group of people who prioritizes their time the right or the wrong way, just one way or the other.

If you’re continuously telling yourself “I don’t have time” for the things you say that you want to have time for, try telling yourself “I don’t prioritize that so I won’t make time for it.” You can also take it a step further by making your time-sucking activities harder to do. If you’re constantly getting sucked into social media apps, delete them from your phone and only download them when you’re going to productively use them. If you’re constantly getting sucked into Netflix, unplug your tv and take the batteries out of your remote, only plug it in and put the batteries back if you know what you want to watch and how many episodes you’re going to watch. I actually learned these tricks from Automic Habits, if you haven’t read it I highly suggest reading it. This book is going to take you to the next level on building great habits and kicking bad habits, it’ll also completely change your productivity. If you truly want to see a change in yourself, read it.

Constantly telling yourself that you don’t have time is self-sabotage. Stop doing it. Change your mindset, shift your priorities, and do the things that you want to do before you actually do run out of time because that’s the other issue — we continuously tell ourselves that we don’t have time while simultaneously telling ourselves that there will always be a next time. Life is too freaking short to waste it on the things you don’t love. Make the damn time. Do the damn thing.
