where to get your next 3 course meal in Charlotte

If you’re traveling to Charlotte, NC you might as well go a little further and head to Old Town Kitchen & Cocktails in Rock Hill, SC (just a half hour from Charlotte) for a tasty (and reasonably priced!) 3 course meal complete with a wine pairing. I mean, why not right?

I went here with my parents and we had a great dining experience and the food was tasty too. My mom and I both ordered the chef’s surprise or special or I really can’t remember what it’s called but the one where the chef gets to choose what you have and my mom requested that we each get different meals (which if you’ve ever done something like this you know that’s not exactly standard) and they agreed.

Here’s a glimpse at the cute restaurant and us excitedly waiting.

COURSE 1 (appetizer)

FOR ME: Bruschetta. It was a thick bread that was fluffy in the middle topped with corn, beans, cheese, some sort of sauce, and I don’t know what else but it was delish, paired with a Prosecco (not pictured).

FOR MY MOM: Spicy Brussel Sprouts. They were so good, my fav of the two. They had some sesame sauce on them. I don’t know it was delish, paired with a Chardonnay (not pictured).

COURSE 2 (MAIN COURSE)

FOR ME: Rabbit Ragu. I saw this on the menu when we found the restaurant online and was intrigued but scared, so of course that’s the entree that I got. It was actually really good. Had some carrots in it (of course). The rabbit was tasty when you don’t think about the fact that it’s a lil bunny.

FOR MY MOM: Parmesan Chicken with Mashed Potatoes, Pesto, Roasted Cherry Tomatoes, and Asparagus.

Super tasty, potatoes were 10/10, chicken was delish. I’m not a tomato or asparagus fan but that pesto was fab.

Now, about our wine pairings for this course — when they brought them out they didn’t tell us what they were so we guessed mine was a Pinot Noir and mom’s was a Cabernet. When we asked she told us two wines we’d never heard of but we think those were the brands of the wine. We could be wrong but we’re classy wine drinkers and think that we’re right so I guess you’ll just have to take our word for it.

COURSE 3 (DESSERT)

FOR ME: Banana Pudding. It was warm and I wasn’t a fan, paired with a moscato (not pictured).

FOR MY MOM: Cheesecake paired with a moscato (different than mine and also not pictured). It had a few different toppings (obviously). She didn’t like it. She liked mine, I liked hers, we happily traded!

We loved our experience and all agreed we would definitely be back. Yes, my dad ate too, chicken wings with french fries and a water.
