WHAT TO EXPECT when you start using monat
WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR FIRST THREE MONTHS
What to expect after your first wash
Everyone’s hair is different so there is no definite answer as to what you can expect after your first wash. With that being said, MONAT is not a quick fix, it’s a healing process. Some people experience softer, more manageable, cleaner feeling, and noticeable changes right away. While others can experience greasy, sticky, and just downright icky build-up coming off of their hair and scalp. It can feel gross sometimes. Both of these results are normal, it means MONAT is working. No matter what you experience right away, the healing process is not overnight, it takes time.
What to expect in your first month
Your first month with MONAT is the beginning of your transition and healing phase, your hair and scalp are getting used to the products and they’re also getting rid of your old products.
If using the products correctly, things you may begin to notice include:
- better overall texture, fewer tangles, and softer feeling as the build-up continues to come off
- improved color and condition
- new (or baby hair) growth
- you might experience some itching as follicles are waking up, which means new hair growth!
- you may experience shedding, this can be from your hair sticking to the old product that we’re now washing away, it could also be from follicles enlarging, getting rid of old cells and dormant hair
- your hair may feel dry or it could feel greasy and/or sticky
What to expect in your first two months
During your second month with MONAT, you’ll find that your hair and scalp are getting healthier.
If using the products correctly, things you may begin to notice include:
- more volume – the build-up weighing your hair down is breaking down and cleansing away
- balanced oils and/or increased hydration
- fewer tangles
- reduction of frizz and flyaways
- new hair growth
- new hair shine
- less transition-period symptoms
What to expect in your first three months
If you're using the products correctly, you should begin to see small, noticeable changes now. After 90 days you should notice that your hair and scalp are recovering from their transition state. Most – if not all – transition symptoms should be gone at this point.
If using the products correctly, things you may begin to notice include:
- improved manageability
- hydrated ends
- less frizz
- smoother, shinier hair
- improved overall volume – strands are plump from the inside-out
- better texture
- improved strength
- improvement in color, both natural and chemical
- balanced PH and hydration – meaning less washing for most people
My 3 month transforation
transition
I just used the words transition, transition period, and healing a whole lot, but I haven’t really gone into what it actually means and why it happens. When we introduce MONAT to our hair it removes years of build-up from our scalp and hair, whether it’s from old products, hard water, bleach, etc. your hair and scalp go into shock when MONAT starts to get rid of it. Sort of like when you take coffee away for a week, you could start to experience some detox – headache, irritability, etc. The years we spent damaging our hair is the precise reason that MONAT is not an overnight fix, you can’t expect to eat healthy one day and drop 20lbs overnight – it just doesn’t happen. The same thing is true for our hair, it takes time. This phase can last a few days or a few months depending on the state that your hair was in when you started using MONAT. Powering through it can be the hardest part about switching to MONAT but it’s the most crucial part – there is a light at the end of the tunnel I promise. All transition-period symptoms are good! Greasy, sticky, dry, gross feeling, excess shedding hair, etc. might not seem like a good thing but it is. Getting rid of all of those years of damage is exactly what your hair needs. After it's gone we reveal the true state of your hair (sometimes it's not pretty) and MONAT can begin to heal hair from the inside out and promote the healthy growth of new hair.
powering through transition
If you’re in the transition period and just can’t wait any longer to get better results here are my best tips to fast-track your hair through it:
Rejuveniqe Oil – if you’re not already using it, add it to your routine immediately. Coat your hair in it from roots to tips three-four times a week. Sleep in it and wash your hair the next morning. Whether you have dry or oily hair, you need the oil.
Add the Purifying Duo. Use the Scalp Scrub first, followed by the Purifying Vinegar Shampoo, and finish with the other shampoo recommended for your hair type. Really focus on the areas where you’re noticing the most grease, build-up, etc.
Add a masque to your routine, send me an email and I can help you find the right masque for your hair.
If none of this is working, reach out to me and I’ll see what else is going on, but as mentioned before, please just try to remember that the transition period is a good thing. A very very very good thing and it will end.
