the gift guide for your travel lover
Sometimes I think we (I) overthink gifts and get overwhelmed when it comes to finding something that someone will love. Today I’m kicking off a little series of gift guides that are sure to have something in them the people in your life will love. I’m going to break these into 2 parts — gifts that I have and love and additional ideas for things that I’ve been watching/are on my list but I don’t actually own. The things that are on my list won’t have links because I haven’t tried them and therefore I don’t know how the quality is. I’m not comfortable linking anything I don’t love. Let’s go!
GIFTS I HAVE AND LOVE
PUSH PIN MAP
This is one of my FAVORITE gifts I’ve ever received. It’s perfect for any travel lover to keep track of where they’ve been and where they want to go next + it makes amazing wall art. My mom got this for Dylan and me a few years back and I love it just as much today as when I opened it.
AWAY SUITCASE
The best suitcase hands down. I have the Bigger Carryon but they have a ton of different options and colors for you to choose from to get the perfect piece for your favorite travel lover.
TRAVEL-SIZE PRODUCTS
Listen, travelers can never have enough of their favorite travel-size products and they’re always going to be grateful to have more. There’s nothing more annoying than having to dump your products into a little travel bottle.
GIFT CARDS
I know gift cards can feel really impersonal BUT take it from this travel lover, opening a gift card to your favorite airline, hotel, or airbnb is the BEST. Don’t worry about the amount either — I know some people feel like they can’t get a travel gift card if it’s not enough to pay for an entire trip but $20 is better than nothing and your travel lover will love you for it.
INSTANT CAMERAS + FILM
What’s a better gift than something they can use to document their travels? I have the Polaroid OneStep+ (an older version) and it’s not available anymore but I linked the updated cameras they do have and the Fuji Instax that I have! If they already have a camera, get them some film to use! You can never have too much film.
PLAN AN EXPERIENCE
People who love travel love to experience life. Plan something with them! It doesn’t have to be a whole trip (unless you want it to be) but it can be ice skating, skiing, dog sledding, concert tickets, sports game tickets, hot air balloon ride, helicopter tour, anything! Go out and make memories with them!
GIFTS THAT ARE ON MY LIST
PASSPORT COVER
A simple and thoughtful gift for your travel lover. I’ve had my eye on one of these forever and have never pulled the trigger. You can find them almost anywhere and you can usually personalize them too to make them the perfect piece for your travel lover, my personal favorites are on Etsy but I know Amazon also has them!
NECK PILLOW
Okay, I used to have one of these and I freaking loved it. LOVED. I need to get another one and just haven’t gotten around to it yet. DO NOT underestimate these ugly things, they’re amazing. You can find one almost anywhere (except don’t buy it at the airport, it’s too expensive there).
DOPP KIT
I got one of these for Dylan a few years back (not available anymore or I would for sure link it) and it was the perfect gift! He uses it on every trip.
LUGGAGE TAG
A personalized luggage tag is another great gift for your travel lover! It would make the perfect stocking stuffer.
TRAVELLER COLLECTIVE ACCESSORIES
I swear I’ve been eyeing up these keychain + key rings for years and I just need to grab them. You can grab them just the keychain, the keychain and rings for each destination they’ve been to, or anything in between!
