top tips for caring for your winter hair
Winter is here and it’s apparently here for every part of the country (stay safe and warm all my southern friends). The dry winter weather really can take a toll on your hair and scalp but what can we do? We can’t control the weather (all I think of when I hear that is Kelso, anyone else??). The good news is that there are some things you can do to help improve the health and strengthen your hair during these harsh months.
REJUVENIQE OIL
I don’t just talk about the oil to talk about the oil, the oil is absolutely no joke. It’s a necessity to achieve the results you’re looking for and get the best hair you’ve ever had. 1-3 oil treatments — scalp to ends — a week is perfect.
DON’T GO TO BED WITH A WET HEAD
Wet hair is weaker, more fragile, and more prone to damage than dry hair is (not to mention a wet head increases your risk of fungal infection), making sleeping with a wet head a bad idea. When your hair is wet, it’s stretched out and instead of snapping back like a rubber band, it just snaps. Make sure you go to sleep with dry hair and always sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase.
HYDRATE
It’s real simple: water. Water is literally the best thing for you, so go drink some and then drink some more. Increase your water intake. In general, your hair and skin (scalp) need hydration, but it’s especially important in the winter when the humidity is down and the air is dry.
RESTORE LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER
I’m not even joking when I tell you that I cannot live without this product. I use it every single day. It’s designed to revive each hair strand and it helps restore essential nutrients to the scalp (winning!). Apply 2-4 pumps to damp hair after showering and apply 1-2 pumps on your ends each night before you go to bed.
MASQUE
Add a masque into your routine for extra nourishment. My favorite winter masque is the Super Moisture Masque, incorporate it into your routine every 2-3 washes. Shampoo twice, squeeze out the excess water, apply the masque to your shaft and ends, wrap it in a warm towel to activate the masque even more (if you have time), leave it on for a minimum of 5 minutes, and rinse.
