packing tips for just bringing a carryon

Raise your hand if you don’t want to pay to check a bag but you feel like you have to in order to bring everything you want! Allow me to help you out with these tips on how I’m able to just grab my carry-on for vacations!

Try everything on before you pack it

I don’t care if you just wore it last week or if you loved it when you wore it last year, try it on before you pack it in your suitcase. I used to be that person who brought 13 different outfits for each day because what if I don’t like it that day? I’ve learned that if I try everything on before I pack it, I’m able to pack much lighter and I only bring one outfit per day!

Mix and Match

Mix and match your outfits. If you’re going for a week, you don’t need 7 pairs of pants, tops, and shoes, you can mix and match your outfits. Create a little capsule wardrobe for vacation. Wear your jeans and bodysuit for one day and grab that same bodysuit to pair with a skirt on a different day! Want to pack even lighter? Try to plan outfits that can all be worn with the same pair of shoes.

Invest in travel-size liquids

Seriously, this is a lifesaver. Stop checking your bag so you can bring your full-size products. I leave all of my travel-size products in my suitcase and they’re ready for me when I’m ready for my next trip! If you can’t find travel-size products, go to Target and grab some little bottles to create your own travel-size products.

Roll don’t fold

Rolling your clothes when you pack them creates much more room than folding! Roll, roll, roll! If you’re worried about wrinkles, stop! You can hang your clothes in the bathroom when you arrive, turn the shower on, and allow the steam to do the rest (or you can iron them).
