how I'm starting to create a capsule wardrobe

One of my goals for 2023 is to shop less and build a wardrobe that I can shop from. I’ve been diving down the capsule wardrobe rabbit hole on TikTok and have started to create my own. I’m starting with colors. What colors I love to wear and what colors I look the best in along with the neutral colors I’ll have in my wardrobe. I’ve narrowed it down to browns (camel, chocolate, tan, etc), black, creams, and pops of true white for my neutral colors along with shades of yellow, dark green, oranges, and the occasional pop of navy. Of course, I haven’t gotten rid of every other color in my wardrobe but, for the most part, I’m building around those.

Staple pieces so far:

I snapped this photo last fall when I started this journey, it’s already feeling so put together and like I can mix and match everything.

I’ve still got work to do but I’m excited to complete this and feel less stressed about what to wear leading myself to buy new pieces every time I have an event coming up. If you’re building a capsule wardrobe I’d love to see/hear any suggestions you have!
