nespresso

If you follow me on Instagram then you should know that I am obsessed with the Christmas gift Dylan gave me two years ago: my Nespresso bundle. I love coffee. The Nespresso makes the perfect cup of coffee or shot of espresso every time, it's quick and easy to use, and even has a built in garbage. The Aeroccino steams and froths milk perfectly, not too hot or burnt, but not too cold (unless you're wanting an iced mocha/latte, there's a cool setting). The whole package is perfect.

Using this is super easy. Just fill the reservoir, press the button on top with the little coffee mug to turn it on, pick your coffee or espresso blend, place in the Nespresso, select your mug, place under the spout, press the button on top, and it will make the perfect cup for you.

My favorite coffee blend is Stormio, it's an 8/11 on the strength scale so it has a bite to it, but that's how I like it. I'm not a big fan of any real light roast coffee, it tastes too watery to me. However, if you are, or if you don't want one quite that strong they have plenty of options from 2-11 on the scale for the VertuoLine (the type of machine I own) and when you buy your Nespresso it comes with a variety pack to sample a few so you can get an idea of what you like.

I take my Stormio with a teaspoon of sugar and a splash of cream; preferably on my couch with a warm blanket and fuzzy socks on a chilly morning.

My favorite espresso blend is Altissio. It's a 9/11 on the strength scale so it also has a kick to it, just the way I like it. I usually make lattes or mochas when I'm using the espresso, I never drink it straight.

My favorite espresso recipe: S'mores Mocha

What you'll need:

  • Nespresso VertuoLine Machine
  • Aeroccino
  • 1 Shot of Altissio
  • Milk
  • Hershey's Chocolate Syrup
  • Torani Toasted Marshmallow Syrup

Fill Aeroccino with milk to "max" line. Be sure to pay attention to which "max" line you're using. If you want it frothy you'll use the whisk attachment and fill to the first "max" line, if you don't want it frothy you'll use the regular attachment and fill to the second "max" line. The Aeroccino will have pictures of each attachment next to the word "max" to help you out. I like it frothy so I use the whisk attachment and fill to the first line. If you have the whisk attachment on and fill it to the second line your milk will overflow (learned that the hard way).

Cover the bottom of your cup with a very thin layer of chocolate syrup. Slowly pour in a shot of marshmallow syrup (should be about a 3-4 second pour).

Begin steaming milk. I usually wait about 10-15 seconds, then turn the VertuoLine on. Place the Altissio in the VertuoLine, place mug under the spout, press the button on top and let VertuoLine make a shot of espresso. When finished stir espresso, chocolate syrup, and toasted marshmallow syrup together in cup. This is a very important step. Be sure to stir before adding your milk.

Add steamed milk to your espresso mix.  Do not stir.

Let me know what you think if you give it a shot! It's my favorite recipe for summer, fall, winter, and spring. It goes down smooth and tastes just like you're sitting around the campfire with your friends.
