the most instagrammable spots in copenhagen

I never thought I would title a blog post using the word “Instagrammable,” but here I am. Last month we embarked on an unplanned and a little bit spontaneous trip to Copenhagen and it was wonderful. We enjoyed an entire week of no plans, no alarms, and no work—that alone was freakin’ magical.

When going on any vacation I typically do my research. Where’s the best place to snap the perfect photo? I swear it’s not just for the gram, it’s who I am, photog props. I’ve put together a not so traditional list of places I found the most Instagrammable for you, I really don’t think you’ll find these all together in another post.

Nyhavn will be the first thing you find if you search for Copenhagen on pretty much any site, and for good reason. It’s a beautiful canal with the most vibrant and colorful buildings.

We were in Copenhagen during the off season, March, it was a little chilly and rainy on some days but there was virtually nobody around and that made it all worth it. Nyhavn being empty made for the perfect photo op, no lines, no people in the background, no getting up at sunrise for the perfect photo (like I’d do that anyways).

Copenhagen Central Station is completely underrated. In all of the research I did IT NEVER CAME UP, I’m still upset about how underrated this place is. I’ll be the one to tell you that it’s beautiful. While we were on our way to the city center on our first day the train made a stop here and Dylan and I both looked at each other and knew that we had to make a plan to come back and spend the day here. The next day we did just that. We spent a good majority of the day just walking around admiring it and, of course, taking photos.

The Little Mermaid duh. It’s like a right of passage, you have to see it when you go to Copenhagen, but more importantly—you have to walk there. The park that you’ll stroll through is also beautiful, which means you’ll find some more spots perfect for the gram along the way.

After you’re done admiring the cutie on the rock and snapping some pics for the gram, you can snag some Nespresso coffee from the little cart nearby. Pretty sure I spotted the “Nespresso” sign a mile away and you can confirm with Dylan, I was more excited about it than I was about seeing The Little Mermaid… oops.

Klampenborg! Hit the beach. It’s the last stop on the train and one day Dylan and I decided that we were just going to ride it to the end, so there we were, Klampenborg. It was a ghost town, not a person in site, but it was so peaceful, not to mention pretty, so we took advantage. It seemed to be pretty centered on the beach itself (but I honestly, don’t know) so I imagine in the summer it’s probably a little more active. Either way, it was fun. Give it a shot.

Nyhavn’s Lock Bridge, this one’s more for the lovers visiting Copenhagen. We’ve all heard of the Love Lock Bridge in Paris, well turns out that some other countries are adopting the concept. I’m a sucker for romance so obviously I told Dylan that we needed to buy a lock and a sharpie. It’s not hard to find at all, walk Nyhavn Canal and you’ll see it—or maybe don’t if you’d rather avoid it.
