love anyway
In this life people will attack you for anything: your business, your clothes, your hair, your body, where you live, what your house looks like, the way you raise your kids, what you eat, the money you make, and the list goes on. People are creating websites, Facebook groups, Twitter and Instagram Pages dedicated to criticizing and judging and being negative about OTHER PEOPLE.
According to a study fake news spreads faster than real news on Twitter, and it's spread or retweeted by real people not robots. "Tweets containing falsehoods reach 1500 people on Twitter six times faster than truthful tweets, the research reveals" - Katie Langin. We all remember high school right? How someone could start a rumor about you that literally has nothing to do with who you even are and soon everyone in the hallways would believe it without a doubt. With social media these days, it's like you're right back in the hallways and everyone believes everything everyone else says about you except for you.
But today I am choosing to love anyway. I'm choosing to spread love and joy in these hallways rather than hate and negativity. I'm choosing to go to the source, to ask questions instead of assuming, and to do research before jumping to anything. I'm choosing to be kind to those that haven't always been so kind to me.
There's this thing called SEO, search engine optimization. Ever heard of it? I don't have a lot of experience in how to use it strategically in my favor but I do know this. WE tell the internet what's important and what we and other people should be seeing more of. The more you click on/like/share/comment on a link, article, photo, etc. you tell the internet that this article is important and you push it to the top of your and your friends' lists. The more you interact with it the more people see it and articles similar to it, simple as that.
Today in the name of Preemptive Love, Monat, and along side the most incredible Monat team I could have ever dreamed of being apart of we choose to love anyway. So if you're a person who's apart of these websites, Facebook groups, Twitter or Instagram pages, or anything that takes so much time and energy for negativity, take all of that energy and time you've made for that and support a good cause. Donate your time to a charity, go to the nursing home and visit with people who never have visitors, buy from stores or organizations that put a portion of their profit towards something good (Love Your Melon and Preemptive Love are great examples), take a mission trip, send someone flowers, tell people that they matter; do something good today that will make you want to do it tomorrow and the next day.
